Bye bye butterflies

Today we released five healthy butterflies in our garden. We have seen the transformation from caterpillar to pupa to butterfly over the past four weeks.
Keep a look out in your garden, you might just see them.

Busy bees outdoors

Today the children chose to spend most of their time outdoors. These are some of the activities they chose to do in the sunshine. They were all "Busy Bees."

Car Wash

Outside this week we have set up a Car Wash. The children have had so much fun although there has been a lot of soggy shoes. All our bikes, cars and scooters are now sparkling clean.

Caterpillars to Butterflies

The children will be experiencing the Life Cycle of a Butterfly over the next few weeks. Our tiny caterpillars have now grown and started to change into cocoons. We will be observing them carefully. In 14 sleeps something amazing will happen. Do you know what?
The children have been recording the life cycle through art. Their work will be in their profiles soon.

Toddler Toddle

Our annual sponsored Toddler Toddle was a great success again this year. We had lots of support from family and friends. All the money raised will be spent on the children.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, it was great to see so many.

World Cup Fever!

Its here, football fever has arrived in FS1 in preparation  for the World Cup this week.
As well as being great fun, it brought out the competitiveness in both children and staff!
One score was England 4 - 5 Wales. Guess which teacher was smiling the most?

Our new water station

The children absolutely love water play so this week we introduced a 'Water Station' which was made by a Winstanley family team effort! It went down a treat with the children. They tested their pouring skills and watched how the water travelled along the tubes then into the tubs. Most of the children were skillful at pouring but some did end up with soggy feet!

Finger Gym

We have dedicated an area in nursery as a permanent 'Finger Gym."
There are different activities each week for the children to try that will help them develop their fine motor control. This is an important stage in their physical development which will aid their writing skills.
This week we have been making patterns using the beads. They are very tricky to pick up but great for creating a good pincer grip. Watch out for more fun activities!

Our chick display

Our chicks have now gone to live on the farm. We was very successful in hatching 7 roosters and 1 hen.
Having the 'Living Egg' project inspired lots of learning opportunities. We learnt all about the life cycle of a hen then produced some amazing work. This is now displayed where our Baby Clinic was. Do you like it?
